VMS 2026 Annual Seminar: "Young Winston's Wars'

For this year's seminar we examine the military career of the young Winston Churchill, from his time as an officer cadet at Sandhurst to his service on the North West Frontier of India, his experiences in the Sudan, and his celebrated adventures in South Africa.
 
Our speakers will highlight Lt Churchill's participation in the Tirah campaign and the Malakand Field Force, the charge of the 21st Lancers at Omdurman, the Battle of Spion Kop, the 'armoured train incident' which led to his capture by the Boers and his daring escape from captivity.
